Day 07 – Most underrated book An unexpected good read
Day 08 – Most overrated book
Day 09 – A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
I was always dubious about the Harry Potter series because as a kid, I was never really introduced by it - not by my friends, teachers and definitely not my family. My primary school friends or other kids in my class didn't seem to be raving about it all that much (or so I recall).
It's weird because it was only early in high school when I witnessed the hype. That might be because that was the time they started the film adaptions or when the films started receiving wide acclaim (I'm not sure if those two things are separate or if the HP films were really popular right from the first movie).
Anyway, a friend of mine got me to read the first book. I looked at it and was kinda glad that it was nice and short because I didn't think I'd like it that much.
Turns out, I LOVED IT - and that was only the beginning.
A lot of people say that HP & The Philosopher's Stone is overrated but I couldn't disagree more. For me, it was the start of something great and the book could not have been written any better.
