Day 3 of the 30 Day Book Meme: MY FAVOURITE SERIES

I decided to participate in this feature because I'm a new born book blogger and this'll hopefully help you get to know more about me and what books I like!

Day 02 – A book that you’ve read more than 3 times
Day 03 – Your favourite series

This one was pretty tough to decide on, so I brainstormed a little list to break it down to just one series. Harry Potter, Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, and The Hunger Games Trilogy were all up there on my shortlist but only one can be named My Favourite Series so....

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis

I didn't actually read any of the Narnia books (not even the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe I don't think!) until I was about 15 or 16, and my parents got me the box set for my birthday.

This was after the first movie came out and I was so intrigued by the story I needed to find the original source of it. I read the books in CS Lewis' recommended (chronological) order, as opposed to the order they were published.

I was awestruck and simply amazed by everything about each and every book. All seven of them were perfect. The settings, the characters, the story, the writing. It's really everything I love to read in a book and I don't think any other book I've read since has topped this series (although The Book Thief by Markus Zusak came pretty close).

List of books in the Narnia series:

  1. The Magician's Nephew (1955)
  2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
  3. The Horse and His Boy (1954)
  4. Prince Caspian (1951)
  5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
  6. The Silver Chair (1953)
  7. The Last Battle (1956)
What I love about children's literature is the beauty in its simplicity. The stories that C.S. Lewis paints are magical and exciting - I think life in the 50's is a little easier, and a lot classier than now.
The writing is so witty and funny, the characters are wonderful, the stories speak for themselves and it has always been a secret desire of mine for me to somehow get to Narnia. Narnia in the Golden Age, under the reign of High King Peter.

I'm embarrassed to admit I have never read this series in total. I read the first one but never went any further with it.

Here is my day 3 post.
